You.Only.Live.Once, so Eat the Best Shawarma

It’s been awhile since I last posted, but I am still getting a good amount of views each day, which is still mind-boggling to me. I truly appreciate your loyalty and patience. Today’s post will be short and sweet, but not because the subject matter is anything short of amazing.
I recently visited my sorority sisters at UC Davis in Davis, CA in Yolo County, hence the title. Every time I visit, I MUST visit Sam’s Mediterranean Cuisine in Downtown Davis. I have had almost everything on the menu, including their heavenly, homemade hummus served with fresh pita and garnished with crispy cucumbers. However, their standout dish is their Beef Shawarma.

The beef is perfectly cooked with so much flavor and garnished with tons of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers! I’m not a huge fan of when veggies overwhelm a sandwich, but this is not only the perfect ratio (because it is stuffed with so much meat), it heightens the flavor of the shawarma. The crispness of the cucumber suits the fresh, warm pita. You can choose to top off your shawarma with a Cucumber Yogurt Sauce or a Traditional Tahini, or if you are my boyfriend, you choose both with spicy sauce on the side for an extra kick when you want it.
It doesn’t end there. The family that owns the small, but mighty, establishment are the nicest people you will ever meet. Seriously. Put them against Mother Theresa and they will stand their ground. The son ALWAYS remembers my order, and is one of the kindest individuals I have ever met in my life. If you are ever within a 1.5 hour radius of Davis, CA, Sam’s shawarma is worth the drive. If I am driving to SF, Napa, or another NorCal location, Sam’s is a permanent pitstop for lunch. Always. No exceptions. I gotta have it.
