Boudin Does BBQ

Last week, I was invited to try some new seasonal menu offerings from Boudin. As if I wasn’t already excited to visit the Orange County location of the home of The Original San Francisco Sourdough™, they then told me the new menu items involved BBQ pork. I couldn’t wait to see how they transformed pulled pork into something all their own.

We got to enjoy:

Luau BBQ Pork Salad: spring mix with roasted BBQ pork, red and green cabbage, carrots, cucumber, red bell pepper, house-made caramelized pineapple, pickled red onion, almonds cilantro, and a ginger soy BBQ vinaigrette.

Even though the dishes had similar ingredients, they were all unique in taste and preparation. I could eat a sandwich for every meal of the day, but I have to say that the big surprise for me was the salad. It was delicious! The plentiful fresh ingredients will leave you giving yourself a pat on the back for choosing a salad, but the pulled pork is the perfect decadent indulgence every other salad leaves you craving. The pork is an unlikely, but perfect addition to the healthy choice on this featured menu.

The flavors, presentation, and service were all top-notch, and the cute animal baguettes don’t hurt either! Make this your pit stop during your next shopping excursion at South Coast Plaza, you won’t regret it! For more information, visit boudinbakery.com.
